VINOKOUROV: NIBALI CAN WIN THE GIRO D’ITALIA Again

Not all sportsmen find public attention and praise captivating.


Alexander Vinourkov is one of such men as he rarely shows up at interviews and press conferences.

Despite being in charge of one on the biggest and successful teams in the sport of professional cycling, he seems to be a man of few words who finds solace in the sport and cares very little about what others might think about him.

Vinourkov, who is currently in charge of team Astana, has said in an exclusive interview that he believes Nibali can win the Giro d’italia. He expressed his sentiment saying that Nibali’s chances of success at the competition were rapidly growing.

When asked about how he decided that Nibali would aim the Giro, Vinourkov had replied:

Vinokourov Happy With Astana Pro Team

The former 2012 Olympic gold medalist of Kazhakastan and the current General Manger of the Astana Pro Team, Alexander Vinokourov, is very happy that the three Kazakh riders have resigned their contract with the team.


The U223 champion Alexey Lutensko has signed a two year contract with the team and Vinokourov is seeing this youngster as the future of Kazakhstan cycling. He has joined the Astana team in 2013 and has made an impression in everyone’s mind by winning a few stages of the Tour of Denmark in 2014, Tour of Switzerland in 2015 and Paris Nice Stage in 2016. The manager is encouraging Alexey to be a strong rider and a team man and believes that there are lots in store for the future.

Daniil Fominykh has also extended his contract with Astana team for one year. He has been part of the team since 2014. Vinokourov is very happy for him and is one rider who can give his best for the team and also bring out some good personal results. Vinokourov says that the progressive driver can easily adjust to the team and play the game according to the needs of the team.

2016 Rio: Sir Bradley Wiggins supports Mark Cavendish for Olympics

Sir Bradley Wiggins, the professional road and track racing cyclist from United Kingdom, told that Mark Cavendish would make Great Britain’s track team for Olympic Games that will be selected later in August.

Mark is not ensured his spot but Bradley told BBC Radio 5 live that he is the right person to ride the omnium. He believes that Cavendish would be in Rio and he wanted to see him there. The Olympics is the one that this is really about for him. Once he gets given the green light for that, his performance would just go up again as he has got nothing to lose.

Mark intends to mix his dream of winning an Olympic gold for the very first time with his sparkly on-the-road career. In the build-up to the Olympics, the thirty year old from Isle of Man wants to ride in Tour de France once again with the expectation of including to his twenty-six stage wins in the race.

The Dirty Part Of Cycling Soon To Be Revealed

The Cycling as a sport is losing its credibility with increasing events about doping and other things that makes people uncomfortable during an interview and exclaims that the question being asked or some recording being played is off the record.

In a recent interview of Pat McQuaid that come out in the newspaper this week was not only about the CIRC( Cycling Independent Reform Commission) that was looking into allegations of anti-doping cover-ups and corruption during his term as the resident of Union Cycliste Internationale or UCI which is the governing body of world cycling. It was very clear that just because no evidence was found then that did not mean the UCI would stop and was not looking for any more. Pat had never actually said anything off or on record about things related to anti-doping but only if you go further at the report made by CIRC you understand some of the things that Pat was talking about and that was off record.

Vinokourov Sarcastic Over The Idea Of Clean Cycling

Questions over BMC is being levelled out by Vinokourov as regarding the clean cycling and the interest which TMC finds at as he believes that cheating is not systematic in his team.

The general manager of Astana, Vinokourov is also furious with the interest of the media regarding the doping record of his team. In fact what he thinks is that the Team Sky and BMC have dual characteristic regarding clean cycling.

As per the performance, four cyclists from Astana have been found to be taking drug that is they have been tested positive in the World Tour Roster as well as the team of Continental of the second tier which happened last year and signals have been given to drive out the team of Kazakhstan from the professional cycling. Questions over the legitimacy of Astana are under scanner.
